Read an artilce from the Springfield Newspaper about the newest Branson Boom, sounds like most of this boom is in condo construction.

Read another article about Lakeview - aka - Branson West have plans on the table for a 500 home housing addition, 2 water parks and a convention center.

Any opinions about all of this? I guess as a longtime visitor and someone that was not only drawn by the "touristy" things but also the beauty of the ozark countryside.... don't know that i'm thrilled with even more of this type of construction.

I also love the Ozark Mountain countryside. I guess it will just keep moving outward as construction and development pushes it away. I wasn't very happy when I was there a few weeks ago and found out where they used to have the Branson trail of lights was destroyed to make way for a Target. That area was so beautiful before and serene. We used to see deer as we drove around looking at the lights. I hear this year they won't even have the lights up. Too bad.

The thing you must keep in mind is that the expansion of residential areas like the new Payne Stewart Golf area has been planned since 1993 in one form or another. Roads were constructed into these woods in 1992 and stood completed for years with the development in the "pause mode" for whatever reason. I believe the main reason we had such a nice Christmas light show for such a long time is that the planned development of this area has taken so long to get underway.
